How do WhatsApp click-to-chat links work?
A normal web link that opens WhatsApp with a conversation ready.
A wa.me link has the form https://wa.me/ followed by a phone number in international format, with an optional ?text= parameter holding the message. Opening it on a phone launches WhatsApp, and on a computer it opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app.
The recipient doesn't need to have your number saved, and you don't need the WhatsApp Business API. That makes the link useful on websites, email signatures, social profiles, printed flyers and QR codes.
