01 Overview
shorturl.la lets you create short links, generate QR codes, and view click analytics. To provide these features we process a limited amount of information about you and about the people who click your links, as described below.
This Policy applies only to the Service. It does not apply to the third-party websites your short links point to, which have their own privacy practices.
02 What we collect
Information you provide
- Account email address — used to create your account and to send you secure magic sign-in links.
- Link data — the destination URLs, titles, tags, custom aliases, and UTM parameters you add to your links.
Information collected automatically
When someone clicks one of your short links, we record limited, mostly aggregated analytics so we can show you how your links perform:
- Approximate location (country and city) derived from IP address;
- Referrer, browser, operating system, and device type;
- Date and time of the click.
We use IP addresses to derive location and to protect the Service against abuse and spam; we do not display raw IP addresses in your dashboard.
03 How we use data
- To operate the Service — create links, perform redirects, and generate QR codes;
- To provide you with click analytics and breakdowns;
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- To detect, prevent, and respond to spam, abuse, and security issues;
- To respond to your support messages.
06 Retention
We keep your account and link data for as long as your account is active. Analytics may be stored in aggregated form. You can delete your links at any time, or ask us to delete your account by emailing us. We may retain limited information where necessary to comply with legal obligations or to prevent abuse.
We may also delete data, links, or accounts at our discretion, including inactive accounts, without notice.
07 Security & "as is"
We take reasonable measures to protect data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. The Service is provided free of charge and "as is", without warranties of any kind.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility or liability for any loss, corruption, or unauthorized access to data, for any downtime or interruption, or for any link, redirect, or feature failing to work. You use the Service at your own risk, and you are responsible for keeping your own copies of any important data.
08 Your choices
- Access or edit your link data directly in your dashboard;
- Delete individual links, or archive them;
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data. We will make reasonable efforts to honor valid requests, subject to the limitations in this Policy.
09 Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
10 Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
