UTM link shortener

UTM link shortener: tag it, shorten it, track it.

A UTM link can be 150 characters long. Add the parameters and shorten it in one step, so you share a clean link and still see exactly where each click came from.

A long UTM-tagged URL turned into a short link with a click counter
How it works

Tag and shorten in one step.

  1. Add the UTM parameters

In the create form, enter the destination and fill in source, medium and campaign. Term and content are optional.

  2. Shorten

The short link redirects to your full tagged URL, so the parameters reach the destination exactly as written.

  3. Share and read the results

Clicks show up in your shorturl.la dashboard, and your own analytics sees the UTM tags on the visit.

Why shorten UTM links

What you gain over a bare tagged URL.

A link you can share

No wall of parameters in a message, a bio or a printed code.

Two views of every click

Your analytics shows the campaign. The short link adds country, device and referrer, and works even where you can't install a script.

Fix it afterwards

Edit the destination or the UTM values later, and the short link people already have keeps working.

Works as a QR code

A short link makes a simpler, easier-to-scan QR code than a long tagged URL.

Consistent naming

Define your values once with the UTM builder, then paste them in.

Organised

Add a title and tags so a campaign's links are easy to find again.

Good to know

Shortening doesn't hide the tags.

The visitor is redirected to the full tagged URL, so the parameters are visible in the address bar once the page loads. Shortening makes the link tidy to share. It is not a way to keep campaign names private.

Don't put UTM parameters on links between pages of your own site. They start a new session and overwrite where the visitor really came from.

Share a clean link. Keep the campaign data.

FAQ

Common questions

Does shortening a UTM link affect tracking? +

No. The short link redirects to the full URL with its UTM parameters, so analytics records the visit as it would for the long link.

Do I have to build the UTM URL first? +

No. The create form has fields for the five UTM parameters. The UTM builder is useful when you want to prepare values in advance or work with many links.

Can I change the UTM parameters after creating the link? +

Yes. Edit the link in the dashboard and update the UTM values. The short link stays the same.

How do I tag many links at once? +

Use the bulk UTM builder to tag a list of URLs, then shorten the ones you want to track.

Is the UTM link shortener free? +

Yes. The free plan includes shortening, UTM fields and click analytics. See the pricing page for the monthly link limit.
