What was removed

Turn any long URL into a short, trackable link.

Once the destination checks out, shorten it with click analytics by source, location and device, all in one dashboard.

Basics

Why remove tracking parameters?

They help the sender measure clicks, and add nothing for the person who receives the link.

Marketing tools append parameters such as utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, or click IDs such as fbclid and gclid, to the links they send. They tell the sender's analytics where a visit came from, but they make links long and noisy, and they reveal how you found the page when you share it on.

Removing them gives a shorter link that points to the same page, avoids duplicate URLs in bookmarks and spreadsheets, and stops you passing someone else's campaign data along to your own contacts.

The tool keeps every parameter that isn't a known tracker, so parameters the page needs to work, like an item ID or a page number, are preserved. Switch to "whole query string" when you want a bare address.

FAQ

Common questions

Will the page still work after I remove the parameters? +

Almost always. Tracking parameters are read by analytics tools, not by the page itself. The cleaner leaves every other parameter in place, because those are often needed.

Which parameters are removed? +

All utm_ parameters, plus common click and campaign IDs such as fbclid, gclid, gbraid, wbraid, msclkid, dclid, twclid, ttclid, igshid, mc_cid, mc_eid, yclid, _ga, _gl and the HubSpot, Marketo and Matomo equivalents.

Do UTM parameters hurt SEO? +

Search engines treat tagged and untagged URLs as the same page when a canonical tag points at the clean version, so they rarely hurt rankings. They do make shared links harder to read.

Is my data sent to a server? +

No. The cleaning happens in your browser with JavaScript.
